My original group was me, Nathan and Tom and we were given a Glee video to create. However neither of them got back in to Sixth Form so we could not complete the preliminary task. After summer me and Issak, who was in a similar situation to me, started looking at videos we would be able to do. Who did you work with and how did you manage the task between you?
How did you plan your sequence? What process did you use?
As we started our preliminary task for a second time after summer holidays we had very little time to plan the sequence. Once we found the video for 'Can't feel my face' by The Weeknd we printed out the lyrics and set up a microphone and camera in front of our green screen. Obviously this was not ideal as we didn't have much time to consider the props of create a storyboard.

What technology did you use to complete your task and how did you use it?
We used a variety of technologies to complete our task, such as:
- Adobe Premiere
- Sony Camcorder
- Green Screen
- iPad
- Desktop PC
- YouTube tutorials
What factors did you take into account when planning, shooting and editing?
As our production was rushed we did not take enough factors into account. An example of this is after we had filmed we saw all of the clips had a shadow on the green screen. After shooting we researched this and it became obvious to us from YouTube videos that this was a common mistake and was easily preventable had we of researched it beforehand. This did not ruin the video as Issak was able to edit so the shadow was not clearly visible.
Aside from this the shooting and editing went smoothly as we had lots of experience doing it from AS. There were some advanced editing skills which we needed to research but once we had done this they worked exactly as we wanted.
How successful is your music video? What did others say about your video?
The music video is successful in the respect that we replicated the official video well. The lip syncing was a good standard but in our final music video we need to allocate much more time to editing so the lip syncing is perfect. Considering how quickly we did the music video I think the end result was okay but what was much more valuable was what we learned from the experience.
What have you learned whilst filming?
The most valuable thing I learned is that every decision is important and should be thought about and researched before doing it to prevent mistakes. Doing things instinctively can work sometimes for example trying a different camera shot but generally less mistakes are made when everything is planned. I also learnt various advanced editing techniques which I had no idea about last year, I leaned these mainly from YouTube but also group members.
How does it compare with filming an opening to a film?

From my experience creating a film opening the actual act of filming was much more important. Finding great camera shots was slightly more important than editing. Whereas with the music video the editing is by far the most important as regardless of how good the shots are if the editing isn't immaculate and the lip syncing perfect the video will look very poor. So I think when we start making our music video I would prioritise editing over shooting, not by much, but it's important to have time to edit the video to our best ability.
What are your strengths and weaknesses as a group model?
Before the preliminary task editing was by far my biggest weakness as last year I was too happy to let more talented people edit rather than be hands on and get better at it. I feel I have improved on this and have learned some new techniques. But the editing task we do next week will be very important for me to try and improve on this.
Looking at other groups videos which do you think were most successful and why?
I think Archie's groups was quite successful as they chose a hard video to replicate but did it quite well.
